Rishabh Pant praises the Mohammed Shami after thrilling win vs SRH

Another IPL 2026 to remember for a long time. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the team that looked stronger to claim a win, got defeated by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday afternoon. The batting line-up with so many power hitters went down in flames against the LSG bowling lineup.

In two consecutive games, experienced Indian pacer Mohammed Shami took a wicket again in the very first over of the game today. Abhishek Sharma departed for a duck. The other half of LSG’s opening pair, Travis Head, also fell on the trap set by Shami. The other power-hitters of SRH, like their stand-in captain Ishan Kishan and Liam Livingston, could not do much against the opposing bowling attack.

Heinrich Klassen put on a strong show vs LSG

Heinrich Klassen (62) played a much-needed, impactful knock, supported by Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy (56). Because of the half-centuries from these two batters, SRH managed to get a respectable total of 156 runs in 20 overs.

Like the bowling, LSG’s fielding and catching were also excellent in their away game. Rishabh Pant claimed a couple of marvellous catches behind the stumps. Manimaran Siddharth also made a brilliant effort to cut the batting line-up of LSG short. In the first innings, the star performer was the seamer, Mohammed Shami.

They took the wickets of Sharma and Head, and completed his 4 over quota only for an economy rate of 2.25. Emerging bowler of the team, Prince Yadav and Avesh Khan, also claimed a brace each, while the lead spinner of Lucknow, Digvesh Rathi, got Liam Livingston’s wicket. Rathi was the most expensive bowler for LSG in this match.

Super Giants again went back with their trusted pair of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh to open the innings, pushing Rishabh Pant to number 3, who opened the innings with Marsh in their first match of the season. After Aiden Markram’s commanding 45-run knock, Pant played an unbeaten 68-run innings to confirm their first win of the team in his season.

LSG won the match by 5 wickets, surpassing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first innings’ 156. In the 5th ball of the 20th over, Pant concluded the run chase by smashing a four against the SRH pacer Jaydev Unadkat. In the final of the match, Pant hit three 4s to secure the victory for the team.

LSG captain Rishabh Pant praised the bowlers

Rishabh Pant said, “I think with bowlers, you know, you’ve got to appreciate and give them one because, you know, those are the people who set you up for the night, especially when you bowl first.”

“I think Shami Bhai, Avesh, Rathi, I think everyone’s contributed really well, especially Siddharth coming in today. You know, we decided as a ground that he’s going to make up the play, and he did really well for us,” Rishabh Pant said, praising their bowlers for the win.

“We feel like, you know, the only thing is that there is never a perfect match. You know, you’ve got to be critical as a manager, but at the same time, you’ve got to appreciate what’s happening inside. I think the only conversation is, you know, looking to, you know, execute the plan rather than feeling that I can do all this. Trust your preparation and just take on the game,” Rishabh Pant further added.
