In a pre-dawn crackdown aimed at preventing the illegal transport of narcotic substances into Bengaluru from neighbouring areas, the North division police conducted a special inspection drive along Tumakuru Road on February 21.

Acting under the guidance of B.S. Nemagouda, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North division, many teams comprising officers and staff from Srirampura, Nandini Layout, R.M.C. Yard, and Jalahalli Police Stations, along with trained narcotics detection dog squads, conducted the inspection.

The operation was conducted between 4 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. on February 21.

Police inspected a total of 253 government and private buses entering Bengaluru via Tumakuru Road from various districts and neighbouring States. The checks focused on preventing the illegal transportation of narcotic drugs, and other suspicious materials into the city.

Officials stated that such surprise inspections will continue at key entry points to the city as part of sustained efforts to combat drug trafficking, and to ensure public safety.
