Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a day they will never forget as they lived through one of the wildest innings of IPL 2026 on their home turf. SRH has witnessed both a disastrous start and an inspiring fightback against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their IPL 2026 game in Hyderabad.
Somehow, the Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to fight their way to 156/9 against Lucknow Super Giants after all the drama at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, April 5.

The Lucknow Super Giants bowlers have turned the powerplay into a complete nightmare for Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2026 encounter. Mohammed Shami removed Abhishek Sharma (0) and Travis Head (7) with clever changes of pace, leaving SRH rattled.

And then, Prince Yadav produced a dream delivery to send back Ishan Kishan (1), leaving the hosts gasping at 11/3. Later, Liam Livingstone handed another wicket to Digvesh Rathi.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad slipped to 35/4 in the first 10 overs. With this dramatic collapse, Sunrisers Hyderabad has registered the fourth-lowest first 10-over totals in IPL history. KKR’s 31/3 remains the lowest score in IPL history in the first 10 overs. They made this unforgettable record back in 2009 against the Deccan Chargers.

Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy save SRH from disaster and scripts history
Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy brought hope. After their calm approach, the duo shifted gears and played fearless strokes to bring Sunrisers Hyderabad back into the match.
Klaasen and Reddy’s 116-run stand against the LSG not only rescued the innings but also became SRH’s highest partnership for the 5th wicket or lower in IPL history.
Additionally, this was the first time that Sunrisers Hyderabad batters came to bat at No. 5 or below, both reaching fifty in the same match. While Reddy made 56 runs, Klaasen hit a stunning 62 off 41 balls.

Late collapse hurts Sunrisers Hyderabad again
But just when Sunrisers Hyderabad seemed ready for a big finish, Reddy fell in the 18th over, and Klaasen followed soon in the 19th over, triggering another mini-collapse. Even then, 156/9 turned out to be their highest total ever after being 4 down inside 30 runs against the LSG on Sunday.
Defending the modest target, Eshan Malinga provided Sunrisers Hyderabad a crucial breakthrough as he sent Mitchell Marsh back to the dugout in the powerplay. Marsh tried to pull the short ball, but mistimed it completely. The ball went high toward deep square leg, where Reddy waited calmly and took an easy catch as Marsh walked off for 14 off 12 balls.
However, Aiden Markram and Rishabh Pant managed to steady the innings before Shivang Kumar struck gold with his maiden IPL wicket. He removed the set batter Markram for 45 off 27.
