SSUS students evince interest in exploring innovative start-up ideas

Date:

Nearly 60 students have evinced interest in nurturing start-up ideas as part of a project initiated by the Design Technology Business Incubation Centre at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS), Kalady.

Four project ideas have been taken up in the first phase of the initiative aimed at nurturing innovative ideas among students. It includes development of a smart card for drivers, an app for learning mural painting, software solution focussing on child welfare, and an app on guidance for tourists.

“The Kerala Startup Mission will extend the required help for the young talents to mould their ideas. The varsity will provide funding for the selected ideas,” said R. Ajayan, Syndicate member and chairperson of the Design Technology Business Incubation Centre.

M. Krishnakumar, assistant manager, Kerala Startup Mission, who provided tips on how to take ideas forward, said students would have to work towards elevating their ideas into business models. The students were divided into four groups and told to come up with innovative ideas, he said.

Mr. Ajayan said the start-up project would be extended to the regional centres of the varsity in the next phase. The government had allocated around ₹1 crore for the centre aimed at promoting start-up ventures involving students, he said.
