The excitement for Toxic reached a new stage when Yash was introduced as Raya, with the film boasting of violence, adult scenes, and gore, all of which were presented in a hype-filled manner. After that introduction, the Toxic movie teaser carried a massive wait from the Indian audience, but now that it has been released, the teaser has been an equally massive disappointment, too. Read our Toxic movie teaser review and find out what it says about the film.
Expectations Lowered Successfully
The Toxic movie teaser is a compilation of lots of blood in the name of violence for the film to look brutal, bits of adult scenes that made the Raya introduction glimpse go viral, heavy-sounding dialogues in English that do not fit the dialogue delivery of the leads, along with a glimpse of the protagonist in Chinese to portray him as an international crime lord. All of these are bits of action entertainers that succeed and fail every year, and for a movie made on a budget of Rs 500 crore, we expect much more than just scale and the team of the film banking on the superstar’s last big success.
Additionally, the trope of violence and brutality was initially popular due to its enjoyable use in Animal and Kill, but soon, this trope has become a headache as directors have been using it without any sense, just for elevation purposes. How meaningless it is when overdone can be clearly seen with the failure of movies like Baaghi 4.
Additionally, the story of Toxic has not been established properly, which results in it failing to develop any interest among the viewers. Due to it being a bit darker than Raya’s introduction glimpse, this teaser is certainly not the right asset to connect to the masses.
Can Yash Surprise in a Double Role?
On the Toxic teaser release date, the sole point of excitement that the audience has found out is Yash’s surprise double role in the film as a father and the son, which has not been clearly revealed but can be deciphered accurately. While his presence as the father in the initial part of the teaser has gotten a massy presentation, his character as the son appears with a classy presentation. This can be seen clearly in their looks and their limited behaviour.
The opportunity of Yash playing a double role can be a rewarding one, as in such a dark environment, which is hinted at by the teaser, the actor can show great acting prowess, too, only if he takes it seriously.
The Questionable Technical Aspects of Toxic
From a commercial entertainer made on a budget of over Rs 500 crore, the least you could expect from it is to excel in the technical aspects. Currently, Toxic film 2026 seems to be far from excellent, as the teaser of the movie shows both good and poor bits.
Several scenes are technically polished while many are not, which creates abruptness. The action sequences, appreciably, are razor sharp, while the cinematography is good.
Additionally, the VFX is great at places and shoddy at some too, showing inconsistency. Ravi Basrur’s BGM needs improvement as it is certainly not on the level of the score that we had heard in Raya’s intro, announcement video, and Toxic Birthday Peek.
