Apple Music in iOS 26.4: Five new features coming to iPhone – 9to5Mac

Date:

iOS 26.4 is packed with new features and changesincluding five updates to the Music app. Here’s everything new for Apple Music in iOS 26.4.

#1: Playlist Playground

iOS 26.4 uses Apple Intelligence to power a new Playlist Playground feature on Apple Music.

When you create a new playlist in the Music app, you’ll now see the option to enter a request for the AI to use to automatically stitch a playlist together. The Music app also provides suggested instructions that you can use to get started.

You can always manually add and remove songs to your liking and make follow-up requests, but Playlist Playground provides a convenient starting point for new playlists.

#2: New design for albums and playlists

Apple has given albums and playlists a new, full-screen design in iOS 26.4.

Now, the artwork for an album or playlist will be used to style the entire playlist background and other UI elements.

So if an album has a prominent blue color in its artwork, a similar shade of blue will likely fill the entire screen. Sometimes complementary colors are also used, such as a black background when the artwork has shades of white and gray.

Apple last year launched a new Ambient Music feature for the Control Center. This allows you to quickly and easily start playing music for one of four moods:

  • quietly
  • Productivity
  • sleep
  • Welfare

Now in iOS 26.4, the same Ambient Music feature is available via a new Home Screen widget. Small and medium widget sizes are available.

#4: Add songs to multiple playlists at once

iOS 26.4 lets you easily add a song to more than one playlist at the same time.

When added to a playlist, there is a new selection button in the lower right corner. Tap it and you’ll be able to select multiple playlists at once.

It’s a small change, but useful for those times when you want to quickly add to several different playlists.

#5: Concert information

Apple is rolling out concert information directly to the Music app in iOS 26.4.

Artist profiles in the app will now highlight ‘Upcoming Concerts’ when concert information is available. You can scroll below to see all the upcoming shows.

Tap a specific concert and the app will provide a link to buy tickets, plus information about the venue, start time and more.
