Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be regarded as a tool to assist humans, as it can never compete with human creativity or critical thinking, said K. Srinivas, Head of the ICT and Project Management Unit, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi.

Speaking at the inaugural session of a two-day workshop for faculty on “Integration of Generative AI, Interactive E-Content, and Modern Technologies in Higher Education”, organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of P.B. Siddhartha Arts and Science College on Saturday, Mr. Srinivas said teachers must take the lead in preparing students to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.

He emphasised that AI poses no threat to teaching jobs. “Instead of spending the entire 50-minute class delivering a traditional lecture, faculty should make their teaching more engaging by incorporating e-content, videos and audio clips into their lessons,” he said.

College principal Meka Ramesh, director Vemuri Baburao, dean Rajesh C. Jampala and IQAC coordinator Babu Rajendra Prasad also spoke.
