Local Self-Government Minister K.M. Shaji has said that care for the elderly is a shared responsibility of society and the State, not just individual families.
Inaugurating online a day-long workshop on ‘Ageing, gender, and human wecurity in Kerala’ here on Saturday, the Minister said India’s elderly population was projected to exceed 23 crore by 2036, underscoring the need for stronger support systems and policies for senior citizens.
