Youth and student organisations held a rally in Belagavi on Thursday, in support of the students protesting in New Delhi against the alleged irregularities in NEET examination.
The protestors gathered at the Kittur Channamma Circle and held a rasta roko for some time. Then they walked from the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Park to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, shouting slogans against the Union government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
They submitted a memorandum to the government through the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
They sought the resignation of Mr. Pradhan and demanded action against officers responsible for the lathi-charge on the protestors at Jantar Mantar. They demanded justice for students who had suffered due to the paper leaks, action against those responsible and compensation for the families of students who had ended their lives.

Aman Sait, youth Congress leader, said that the rally was organised by a non-political body and attracted students and was aimed at student welfare. “It has attracted youth from all political affiliations, who have joined the protest, leaving all their affiliations behind,” he said.
Atharva Puned, a NEET aspirant, told reporters that he and several of his classmates had suffered due to the paper leaks. “I scored 520 marks in my first paper. But my marks were reduced by around 120 in the second examination that was held after the leak. Thousands of students have suffered due to this. They should get justice,” Puned said.
City-based ‘Youth of Belagavi’ association organised the protest. Leaders of various student bodies participated.
