Nvidia to Launch AI-Powered Laptop Chips

Date:

Nvidia is gearing up for a comeback in the consumer PC space — this time powered by AI.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the company is working on a new range of AI-focused laptop processors that could appear in devices from major brands like Dell Technologies and Lenovo. More manufacturers may join later.

Instead of offering just graphics chips, Nvidia is reportedly designing integrated chipsets that combine CPUs and its powerful GPUs — similar to the architecture used in smartphones. This could lead to slimmer, lighter laptops with better battery life, while still delivering strong AI performance.

The strategy includes two key partnerships. One is with MediaTek to develop an Arm-based processor, with early versions expected in the first half of 2026. The other involves working with Intel, pairing Intel CPUs with Nvidia’s graphics and AI capabilities to strengthen Windows laptops against Apple’s MacBook lineup.

With around 150 million laptops sold each year globally, the consumer PC market offers a major growth opportunity beyond Nvidia’s core data centre business. While the immediate financial impact may be limited, entering AI-powered PCs would diversify revenue and extend Nvidia’s AI ecosystem from cloud infrastructure to everyday devices — reinforcing its long-term expansion strategy.
