WATCH: Daniel Sams produces stunning yorker to dismiss Rahkeem Cornwall as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons beat Barbados Tridents in CPL 2026

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons got exactly the kind of start they would have wanted with the ball after setting Barbados Tridents a target of 156 in their Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 encounter. The pressure was immediately on the Tridents to make a strong start to their chase, but Daniel Sams had other plans. The Australian pacer delivered a brilliant yorker with the opening ball and sent Rahkeem Cornwall back to the pavilion without scoring.

The early breakthrough gave the Falcons instant momentum and was the first sign of what became a disciplined bowling performance. Barbados struggled to recover from the early setback and eventually failed to chase down the target, handing the Falcons a valuable 30-run victory.

Daniel Sams produces perfect yorker to dismiss Cornwall

Sams needed just one delivery to make an impact. The pacer bowled a sharp 131.9kph inswinging yorker that targeted the base of Cornwall’s off stump. Cornwall attempted to make room and play an aggressive shot but barely moved his feet. The ball sneaked underneath his attempted stroke and crashed directly into the base of the off stump.

The big-hitting batter could only watch as his stumps were shattered. Cornwall was dismissed for a golden duck, giving Sams a wicket with the very first ball of the innings.

Moeen Ali’s late hitting sets up Falcons victory

The Falcons had also faced some pressure with the bat after losing Cornwall from the first ball of their innings. Amir Jangoo, Karima Gore and Hasan Nawaz helped steady the innings, but Barbados appeared to have kept the scoring under control. Moeen Ali changed the equation after arriving at No. 5. He initially took his time before launching a stunning assault in the final over, smashing Sams for three consecutive sixes.

Moeen finished unbeaten on 56, while Shamar Springer contributed 19 from 16 balls as the pair added 75 runs from 41 deliveries. The Falcons reached 155/5. Barbados could only manage 125 in reply, with Rivaldo Clarke top-scoring with 27. Joshua James claimed 3/18, while Alzarri Joseph, Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim also picked up important wickets. The Tridents were eventually bowled out in the 18th over, giving the Falcons a 30-run victory and taking them back to the top of the CPL 2026 table.
