Members of Niranjan Vedike and other organisations celebrated the birth centenary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro in Dharwad on August 28.
B.R. Manjunath, president of Samakalina Vedike, spoke about the history of the ‘Cuban Revolution’ and its significant features. He said that the greatest lesson from that revolution was how to apply Marxism in different situations. He explained the communist principles adopted by leaders like Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.
Journalist Siddanagouda Patil recalled his visit to Cuba and meeting with Mr. Castro. He spoke of Cuba’s achievements in various fields, and about the struggle to build a socialist society.
Convener H. G. Desai presided over the programme. Later, resource persons engaged in a discussion with young leaders about current affairs, including the Gen Z protest.
