Bhuvneshwar Kumar gets support from a BCCI top official after the final of UPT20 League 2026. In a video interview after the final match, Rajiv Shukla, vice president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, mentioned that the selectors are keeping an eye on Kumar’s recent bowling performances and have taken note of that.

Shukla, in his statement,t said Kumar’s fine spells were noticed by the selectors, and there was no doubt that the bowler did really well in recent times. Based on the performance, many believe selectors should consider him for another stint with the Men in Blue. However, whether his chances of making Tea am India comeback are complete depends on the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel.

“Selectors are taking note of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s performances. He is doing very well, and everyone believes the selectors should consider him. The decision is up to them, but one thing is clear: his performances deserve appreciation,” Rajiv Shukla stated.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was impressive in IPL 2026 and UP T20 League 2026

In IPL 2026, Kumar took 28 wickets in 16 matches for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for an economy rate of 7.95. With Kumar’s brilliant bowling, RCB defended their title confidently. The 36-year-old himself ended his IPL 2026 campaign as the second-highest wicket-taker, missing the purple cap only by one wicket to Kagiso Rabada.

Challenges in the UP T20 League 2026 were new for Kumar, as he was appointed as the captain of the Falcons. That extra responsibility of leading the team did not bury the 36-year-old’s form; instead, it helped him to re-polish his bowling. Bhuvneshwar Kumar concluded the UP T20 League 2026 by taking 14 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of less than 6.

In Qualifier 1 against Meerut Mavericks on September 3, he did something extraordinary, returning with a bowling figure of 4/10 including 18 dot balls and the wickets of Akshay Dubey, Divyansh Rajput, Rituraj Sharma, and Divyansh Joshi. The 4-wicket spell of Kumar sealed a spot in the final for the Falcons. However, it was Rinku Singh’s Meerut Mavericks that took the trophy home.
