Bloody Romeo: Nani’s New Film Is a Recipe for Gangster Chaos

Date:

On the occasion of Natural Star Nani’s birthday on Tuesday, the title for the actor’s next film under director Sujeeth has been officially announced. Titled Bloody Romeo, the pan-Indian action-comedy promises a wild ride. From what the actor-director duo stated, it’s going to be a stylish drama with an eccentric flair.

In a twist on the double-life trope, Nani stars as a culinary artist – yes, he plays a chef who whips up gourmet dishes under the sun but commands the criminal underworld once darkness falls. Sujeeth wrote that his hero was ‘born to be loved’ and ‘ready to be unleashed.’ Nani teased the project on X, promising a cocktail of ‘a little bit of action, fun, and madness,’ all topped with ‘a whole lot of love.’ The makers are inviting audiences to step directly into the impending ‘chaos.’

Nani Bloody Romeo

Actor Nani has increasingly opted for phonetically universal titles in his recent Telugu films. This is seen as a deliberate strategy to broaden his appeal beyond Telugu audiences and target the growing pan-Indian market. Films like HIT: The Third Case, The Paradise, and the newly announced Bloody Romeo feature sleek, English titles that transcend regional linguistic barriers. They are instantly accessible and marketable nationwide. This trend builds on his earlier efforts with Shyam Singha Roy and Dasara, whose titles carried a neutral quality that helped attract non-Telugu viewers in small ways. Nani’s calculated move to position himself for the non-Telugu audience is evident. He is prioritizing content with wider resonance over traditional Telugu-centric naming conventions. Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, which was released in 2024, is the only exception. Interestingly, a title like The Paradise, while having a Hyderabadi scent for those who are aware of the context, would have a different meaning for the non-Telugu audience.
