Revanth says Hyderabad ahead of schedule in GCC expansion

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said Hyderabad was witnessing a significant expansion of global corporate presence, with the State government progressing ahead of schedule on its target of attracting 100 new Global Capability Centres (GCCs) to the city this year.

In a post on social media on Monday (September 21), the Chief Minister said that over the past two years, the administration had facilitated the establishment of major operational bases in Hyderabad by several multinational companies across sectors. The transformation was the result of “purposeful governance and decisive execution” by his government.

He cited entertainment companies such as Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery, beauty major L’Oréal, healthcare companies Amgen and Eli Lilly, and FMCG major Unilever among the global companies expanding their presence in the city.

The Telangana government had set an objective of setting up of 100 new GCCs in Hyderabad during the year. According to the Chief Minister, the State was “significantly ahead of schedule” in achieving the target.

The government has been positioning Hyderabad as a major GCC destination, particularly in technology, life sciences, healthcare, entertainment and other knowledge-intensive sectors. In February, the government announced plans for a dedicated GCC zone at Bharat Future City with a focus on global innovation centres in the biosciences sector.

The State government has also been pursuing policies to expand GCC activity beyond Hyderabad’s core urban region, with officials asked to formulate a comprehensive GCC policy and identify growth clusters along the Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal corridors.
