Daniel Levy spent almost 25 years at the helm of Tottenham Hotspur before stepping down as executive chairman in September 2025. Now, fresh details about the financial terms of his departure have put a figure on the end of that long association. The Athletic reported that Levy received a £27 million payment when he left Tottenham; the sum included his salary, annual bonus and money due under a long-term incentive plan. Separately, figures reported by Roundtable Sports from Tottenham’s Companies House records put his earnings during his time at the club at about £61 million. Together, those figures amount to roughly £88 million.

What was behind the £27 million payment?

The £27 million was linked to the end of Levy’s time as Tottenham’s executive chairman. According to The Athletic, the payment covered money he was contractually entitled to receive, including salary, an annual bonus and sums due through the club’s long-term incentive plan. The £27 million relates to his departure, while the separate £61 million figure covers remuneration accumulated during his time at the club.

How the total reached about £88 million

The £88 million figure comes from combining the two reported amounts. Roundtable Sports, citing Tottenham’s Companies House records, reported that Levy had received around £61 million in salaries, bonuses and other payments over his time with the club. Adding the reported £27 million departure payment brings the total to approximately £88 million. The £61 million figure is based on the club’s reported financial records, while The Athletic’s £27 million figure relates specifically to the terms of Levy’s departure. The combined amount is also striking in the context of Tottenham’s finances. The roughly £88 million total is around the same as the £88 million Tottenham received from Bayern Munich for Harry Kane in 2023, a comparison highlighted in reports about Levy’s earnings.

Nearly a quarter-century at Tottenham

Levy’s departure was formally announced by Tottenham on September 4, 2025. The club said he had stepped down as executive chairman after nearly 25 years in the role. His time at Tottenham covered some of the biggest changes in the club’s modern history. The period included major investment in the playing squad and academy, the development of the club’s training facilities and, most notably, the move into the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2019.The stadium became more than a new home for the football team. It was designed as a multi-purpose venue and has since hosted NFL games, concerts, boxing and other major events. Tottenham also became a regular presence in European competitions during Levy’s tenure. In its announcement of his departure, the club said it had competed in European competitions in 18 of the previous 20 seasons and had won the Europa League shortly before Levy left.

A new leadership structure

Levy’s exit also marked a change in the way Tottenham was run. Peter Charrington became non-executive chairman, while Vinai Venkatesham took over as chief executive. The club also appointed Thomas Frank as men’s head coach and Martin Ho as head coach of the women’s team. Tottenham said the appointments formed part of its succession planning and were intended to provide a new foundation for the club. For Levy, the change brought to a close a relationship with Tottenham that had lasted from the early 2000s into the middle of the 2020s. His directorship with Tottenham Hotspur Limited ended on September 4, 2025. The newly reported financial details now add another dimension to that departure, giving a clearer picture of the compensation associated with the end of his long-running tenure.
