Ahead of India’s crucial Super 8 match against Zimbabwe in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Rohit Sharma shared a light moment by taking part in Kevin Pietersen’s Switch Hit Challenge. The former Team India captain won the challenge against Pietersen, and the video went viral across social media platforms.

India are set to take on Zimbabwe in a crucial Super 8 match on Thursday, February 26. The team must win their next two Super 8 games to stay in the race for the semifinals. They are the defending champions of the T20 World Cup 2026. The team won the title in the previous edition in 2024 under Rohit’s captaincy.

The challenge between Rohit Sharma and Kevin Pietersen was divided into three levels: easy, intermediate, and impossible. Both players earned points by hitting set targets, and the winner was the one who reached 250 points in the fewest number of balls.

Pietersen reached 250 points first in the final round. He needed three deliveries and finished the challenge with a lofted inside-out shot. At that stage, Rohit was on 210 points and had only two balls left to overtake him.

Rohit missed the target with his first attempt, leaving him just one chance to win. On the final ball, he struck a powerful inside-out shot that hit the target and took him past 250 points, sealing the win. After the challenge, both players laughed, shook hands, and shared a light-hearted moment.

Rohit Sharma Last Played During Home ODI Series Against New Zealand

Rohit Sharma retired from T20 Internationals after the T20 World Cup 2024. He stepped away from Test cricket following the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He last played an international match in India’s home ODI series against New Zealand.

The veteran opener scored only 61 runs in three innings at an average of 20.33 and a strike rate of 76.25, with a best score of 26 in the opening match at Vadodara. The hosts went on to lose the series 2-1.

Overall, he has played 282 ODI matches for India and scored 11,577 runs in 274 innings at an average of 48.84 and a strike rate of 92.74, including 61 half-centuries and 33 centuries, with a highest score of 264 against Sri Lanka.

Rohit Sharma to Feature for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026

The right-hander will return to competitive action in the IPL 2026 season. Rohit was retained by Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. He played an important role last season as Mumbai Indians reached the playoffs.

Rohit scored 418 runs in 15 matches at an average of 29.85 and a strike rate of 149.28, hitting four half-centuries in IPL 2025. He captained Mumbai Indians to a record five IPL titles. The batter has scored 5876 runs in 227 IPL matches for the team, including two centuries and 39 half-centuries.
