A total of 18,277 students have enrolled for the SSLC examination scheduled to be held between March 18 and April 2.
According to sources in the office of the Deputy Director of Public Instructions, of the 18,277 students, 15,185 are regular, 778 private, 2,204 repeaters and 110 private repeaters.
The Education Department has established a total of 61 examination centres across the district. Of this, 22 are in Yadgir taluk, 21 in Shahapur taluk and 18 in Shorapur taluk.
As many as 21 route officers have been deployed on 21 routes comprising seven each in three taluks.
“Extensive steps have been taken to conduct fair, transparent and smooth examination. Adequate closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) are set up to keep vigil on every movement in the examination centres,” Deputy Director of Public Instructions Channabasappa Mudhol told The Hindu.
The department has initiated action to improve the pass percentage. It has implemented 20 programmes across the district and organised additional and special classes, overnight classes, preliminary examination, quiz competitions and rangoli and mehndi drawing for mathematics subject and conducted door-to-door visits to encourage students to face the examination fearlessly.
In addition to that, the Zilla Panchayat also opened the doors of Arivu Kendras, libraries in rural areas under gram panchayats, round the clock for students to have a place to study without any interruption.
“We have initiated whatever measures are available to get good results. Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Lavish Ordia conducted a series of meetings and guided us on improving results,” Mr. Mudhol added.
The district has been identified, among others, for its poor performance in SSLC exam every year by falling to the bottom in the State list. Thus, the district administration, the Zilla Panchayat and also, primarily, the Education Department have put in efforts and launched initiatives this year to ensure good results.
