
The road that connects Prof. B. Krishnappa Circle (Alkola Circle) and DVG Circle in Gopala Extension was named after former CM S. Bangarappa, in a ceremony in Shivamogga on Saturday. Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa, legislators S.N. Channabasappa, Balkhees Banu and others were present.

The main road in Gopala Extension that connects Prof. B. Krishnappa Circle (Alkola Circle) to DVG Circle has been named after former Chief Minister S. Bangarappa, who represented Sorab constituency of Shivamogga in the State Assembly and also was elected to Lok Sabha from Shivamogga.
The road was named after Bangarappa in a programme organised by Shivamogga City Corporation on Saturday. Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa, son of the former CM, taking part in the programme, said that he felt proud and blessed to inaugurate the programme to name the road after his father.
The Minister said that his father had remained in the hearts of people in the State for the popular programmes and schemes he launched as the CM. He gave free power to irrigation pumpsets, announced the Ashraya scheme to provide houses for the poor and introduced grace marks for rural candidates in job recruitment.
Further, the Minister said that the State Government would set up 1,000 Karnataka Public Schools, offering education from Class 1 to II PU in one place across the State. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would lay the foundation stone for the construction of schools in a programme in Shivamogga to be held in April this year.
The Minister distributed title deeds of 290 houses, constructed by the Karnataka Slum Development Board, to the beneficiaries on the occasion.
Shivamogga MLA S.N. Channabasappa, Bilkis Bano, MLC, Karnataka State SC-ST Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Development Corporation chairperson G. Pallavi, Karnataka Textile Infrastructure Development Corporation chairperson Chetan Gowda and district administration officers were present.
