The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have sent out a loud warning before IPL 2026 even begins. Actually, the three-time IPL champions are heading into the upcoming season with serious confidence, and Venky Mysore, the CEO and Managing Director of KKR, is leading the charge.
The Kolkata Knight Riders have full confidence that 2026 will be their season to lift the fourth IPL cup, and Mysore makes it clear that this confidence comes from strategy, not luck at all.
Venky Mysore confident KKR will chase its fourth IPL title
Mysore noted that it is the planning and strategy that have made KKR a top team over the years, while stressing that the team’s approach has never changed despite changes in the leadership.
Your daily dose of cricket!
Venky Mysore said on the Mr. Cricket Podcast, “If you look at the win-loss ratios of teams, we always rank among the top two. We’ve got about a 55-56% win ratio. So therefore, even though we’ve had different head coaches, different captains, and different teams, whatever the strategy and approach we have used has worked. So hopeful about this year as well, really optimistic.”
Venky Mysore proud of KKR’s smart auction moves for IPL 2026
The Managing Director was particularly proud of KKR’s smart moves at the IPL 2026 auction. He pointed out that the franchise’s strong will to bring in Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is just one example of their careful planning and eye for talent.
Mysore further explained, “I think when it comes to auctions, there’s so much preparation that goes into them. You might see me there with the paddle, but there’s a whole team that works very, very hard. We were the first ones to use analytics in the auction from 2011.”
The KKR CEO added, “At that time, if you remember, we cleaned the slate, released everybody, went with the full purse, and built a team that has paid dividends. So, we think the strategies we adopt are solid. I think we have an outstanding team. We have a great support staff, and the skill sets and the combination that we have are great.”
