Blast in police station: condition of constable critical

Police constable Abdullah, who was injured in a blast on Challapalli police station premises on Tuesday, continued to be in critical condition on Wednesday (April 1).

Mr. Abdullah, along with Challapalli SI Durga Anjaneyulu and police vehicle driver Nagaraju, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Guntur district. Five police personnel, who were on duty at the police station, suffered injuries in the blast.

Speaking to The Hindu on Wednesday, Eluru Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) G.V.G. Ashok Kumar said the SI and the vehicle driver Nagaraju were out of danger. “Court [cases monitoring] constable Abdullah, who suffered critical injuries in the blast, is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit,” Mr. Ashok Kumar said.

Meanwhile, Krishna Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Vidyasagar Naidu said head constable Teja and a woman constable, both of whom suffered minor injuries in the blast, were discharged from Challapalli Area Government Hospital.
