Notably, Rohit’s association with Mumbai Indians began in 2011 after his high-profile move from the now-defunct Deccan Chargers. Signed for USD 2 million, he made his debut for the team against the Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) on April 10, 2011, at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium. Over the years, he has become synonymous with the franchise’s success, shaping one of the most dominant eras in IPL history.

Hardik Pandya reflects on Rohit Sharma’s leadership and mentorship

In a video shared by Mumbai Indians, captain Hardik expressed deep gratitude towards Rohit, acknowledging his invaluable role in shaping careers and building a strong team culture. Hardik, who made his IPL debut under Rohit’s captaincy, spoke about the inspiration he and several other players drew from the veteran batter.

“Bro, congratulations on 15 years. Thank you for the way you’ve led this franchise for so long. I made my debut under you, and so did Boom (Jasprit Bumrah) and many others,” Hardik said in the video message.

He further praised Rohit not just as a captain but as a person who remained approachable and supportive throughout his tenure. Hardik credited him for nurturing young talent and consistently leading by example, both on and off the field. His words reflected the deep respect Rohit commands within the dressing room.

“Thank you for inspiring so many who’ve gone on to represent both this franchise and India. You’ve been amazing, not just as a leader, but as a person, always friendly, open, and leading from the front. Many congratulations, and thank you for everything you’ve done over the years,” added Hardik.
