SRH Suffers Big Blow as Brydon Carse Ruled Out,

Just a day after Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a big win against Rajasthan Royals, they’re facing a setback—Brydon Carse is out of IPL 2026. And he didn’t even get to play a game. The team announced that Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka will step in for him.

The IPL confirmed everything in a statement on Tuesday. “Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have picked Dilshan Madushanka as a replacement for Brydon Carse for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Carse has been ruled out of the ongoing IPL season due to an injury.”

Madushanka brings some decent international experience—one Test, 28 ODIs, 19 T20Is, and 70 wickets. He’ll join SRH for INR 75 lakh. Mumbai Indians picked him up for Rs 4.6 crore last year, but a hamstring injury kept him out of action, so he hasn’t actually played an IPL match yet. Now, he gets his shot.

SRH’s bowling attack is starting to look pretty solid. Madushanka will join young talents like Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, plus seasoned pros Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat. Pat Cummins, the designated captain, should be back with the team on April 17, but for now, Ishan Kishan is leading the side. Under Kishan, SRH has won two of five games this season and sits fourth on the table with a net run rate of +0.576.

That last win over Rajasthan Royals was something else. Debutants Praful and Sakib stole the show, grabbing four wickets each and bundling RR out for just 159 in 19 overs. They were chasing a huge target of 217 but fell well short, and SRH walked away with a comfortable 57-run win.

Next up, Sunrisers take on Chennai Super Kings at home—the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad—on Saturday.
