Fans erupt as Abhishek Sharma, Eshan Malinga propel SRH to emphatic win over DC in IPL 2026

Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a batting masterclass at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, as they defeated Delhi Capitals by 47 runs in Match 31 of the Indian Premier League 2026. After being put in to bat, SRH piled up a massive total of 242/2, riding on a sensational century from Abhishek Sharma. In reply, Delhi Capitals fought hard but were restricted to 195/9, falling well short despite a few promising contributions.

Abhishek Sharma headlines SRH’s batting carnage

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s innings was built around a breathtaking knock from Abhishek, who smashed 135 runs off just 68 balls, laced with 10 fours and 10 sixes. He dominated the Delhi Capitals bowlers from the outset, finding boundaries with ease and accelerating brilliantly in the middle overs.

Travis Head provided solid support at the top with 37 off 26 balls, ensuring SRH got off to a strong start. Later, Ishan Kishan added quick runs with a 25 off 13 deliveries, maintaining the momentum. However, the most destructive phase came at the death, when Heinrich Klaasen unleashed a brutal assault, scoring 37 off just 13 balls, including three fours and three sixes.

Delhi Capitals struggled to contain the flow of runs, with none of their bowlers able to make a significant impact. Axar Patel was the only wicket-taker, finishing with 1/23 in his two overs, while the rest of the attack proved expensive as SRH crossed the 240 mark comfortably.

Delhi Capitals show fight but fall short

Chasing a daunting 243, Delhi Capitals needed a strong start but lost Pathum Nissanka early. KL Rahul tried to stabilize the innings with a brisk 37 off 23 balls, hitting three sixes, but the required rate kept climbing. Nitish Rana emerged as the standout performer for DC, playing a counter-attacking knock of 57 off just 30 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. Sameer Rizvi also contributed with a steady 41 off 28 balls, keeping the chase alive during the middle overs. Tristan Stubbs chipped in with 27 off 16, but the lack of sustained partnerships hurt their chances.

Despite these efforts, the target proved too steep, and regular wickets in the latter half derailed the chase. David Miller’s early dismissal for a duck further dented their hopes.
