Rishabh Pant blast out at batters after humiliating defeat against RR in IPL 2026

Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant did not have much of an option but to agree to the fact that it is their batting that has let them down over and over again, despite their bowlers doing some remarkable amount of work.

After the clash between the Rajasthan Royals and the Lucknow Super Giants, the Royals, with their 5th win, have advanced to the second position in the points table. After another loss, the Lucknow Super Giants, who are now in the 9th position, are further distant from the playoff spot.

LSG pacers restricted Rajasthan batters to a very moderate total

The Rajasthan Royals’ batting order’s main strength lies in the top order, but they managed to dismiss them very much within the power play. Mohammed Shami’s second over produced two wickets, with an absolute jaffa to dismiss Dhruv Jurel.

While Yashasvi Jaiswal’s catch was a stellar effort from Rishabh Pant, the LSG captain, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was dismissed after being trapped by Mohsin Khan. The wickets kept falling at regular intervals until Ravindra Jadeja finally played a suitable hand.

Jadeja scored some runs in a partnership with Donovan Ferriera and then alongside the impact batter Shubham Dubey, who helped Jadeja gain momentum after his slow start. He finished the last over with 20 runs and managed to score 43 runs off just 29 balls.

Mitchell Marsh’s half-century in vain as LSG lose by a massive margin

Playing for the Lucknow Super Giants, Mitchell Marsh opened the innings and went on to score a half-century for them. Ayush Badoni was dismissed in the second over, while Rishabh Pant was also dismissed in the same over.

After adding some runs in a partnership with Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, impact player Himmat Singh helped them in the second partnership, which took them closer to the set target.

After Jofra Archer’s and Nandre Burger’s multiple strikes, LSG were dismissed for just 119 runs. They finally managed to win the match by a margin of 40 runs.

As a batting group, we need to put our hand up and try to finish- Rishabh Pant admits to batting blunders

“I think it is difficult to explain. Like, it’s definitely our batting that’s letting us down, but at the same time, we are disappointed as a team, as a group, but at the same time, you’ve got to keep finding ways. You have to look for answers inside, not outside, but that’s how it is as of now,” said Rishabh Pant after losing the match against RR.

Rishabh Pant continued, “See, definitely we could have taken some time while batting and at the same time, you know, not making any excuse out there, like, you know, including myself in that, like we could have taken it a little deeper because I think the bowlers did a fantastic job, especially after the last game.

“As a batting group, we need to put our hand up and try to finish that job for the bowlers also. There is still a lot we want to look at the positive side, you know.”

“We all know it’s disappointing for us as a team, but you know, we have to keep our heads high and look for answers inside, and we surely know that we have enough firepower in our bowling and batting and we can still turn it around. That’s what I believe in,” Rishabh Pant added.
