Rajasthan Royals to be banned? BCCI Secretary reveals plans to punish Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s team

The Rajasthan Royals are now in danger after some alarming activities from their support staff and the players, as the BCCI has now warned them of taking some strict action against the former champions from IPL 2008.

Rajasthan Royals have been performing spectacularly with the bat, and they have recently also ended the winning streak of the Punjab Kings for the first time this season. However, they have struggled with a lack of discipline among their players as well as their support staff.

A recent controversy erupted when, during the same match between PBKS and RR, Royals skipper Riyan Parag was caught by the broadcast cameras, which quickly went viral, and was criticized largely on social media and then by the authorities as well.

Riyan Parag has already faced a ban from the BCCI

After Riyan Parag was caught vaping in the dressing room alongside his fellow cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, the BCCI took a pertinent action against him, which was announced on Thursday, a day after the incident actually occurred.

Findings were not owed to be accepted by the star cricketer as it was caught on camera, and since it was a Level 1 offense, it did not require any hearing. After viewing the evidence, Parag was found guilty of a Code of Conduct breach as per the IPL guidelines. Parag was fined 25% of his match fees and has been handed one demerit point for the breach of Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

However, the BCCI reports have claimed that they are not happy with the way the RR players and the support staff have behaved in recent times, and therefore new options need to be explored in order to ensure the ‘reputation of the IPL remains intact.’

Devajit Saikia warns Rajasthan Royals of strict action

In the official statement from the BCCI, they have clearly stated that they will be looking to explore more options to initiate the proceedings for more stringent action against the team who have severely lacked discipline.

The same was confirmed by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who told PTI, “As it is written clearly in the statement, we are exploring what action to take on the team. It is not decided yet.”

This marks the second major action against the Rajasthan Royals, as their manager, Romi Bhinder, was seen using his mobile phone in the dugout and was reprimanded by the BCCI while also being fined INR 1 lakh.

Rajasthan Royals have made a promising start while still in the quest for a second IPL title

The Rajasthan Royals have made a stellar start to this season of the competition. Having won their first four matches in this season of the competition, the Riyan Parag-led side made a great start to their campaign, especially with the two young openers starting the innings with a flurry.

After three losses in the season, the Royals won two more matches, with their last victory coming against the Punjab Kings, the table toppers who have dominated this season of the IPL with stupendous form and an undefeated streak.
