The emerging bowler of the Mumbai Indians (MI), Raghu Sharma, found a unique way to celebrate a wicket. He made his IPL debut this season for MI this season, and claimed his first wicket for the team against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Raghu took the wicket when LSG was in the driving seat of the match in the first innings at the Wankhede Stadium.
LSG middle-order batter Akshat Raghuwanshi departed against the MI recruit, Raghu Sharma. As a part of the celebration, Raghu took a paper out of his pocket and held it. In a funny gesture, Mumbai Indians’ stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav tried to read the paper.

MI bowler Raghu Sharma celebrated his first wicket in a unique way
Back in 2025, Abhishek Sharma did a similar act, but for a different cause. During the IPL 2025 season, Sharma celebrated his 40-ball century for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Punjab Kings, revealing a note that read “This one is for Orange Army”.
LSG went off to a flying start vs MI
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batters have started their innings nicely, with their openers Mitchell Marsh as one of their openers. Josh Inglis was the other half of the opening pair for LSG for tonight’s match against the Mumbai Indians (MI).
There was a little bit of grass on the pitch of the Wankhede Stadium. Because of the hint of grass on the red soil pitch, the bowlers got some extra bounce with the new ball. But, because of the calculated and aggressive batting of the openers of LSG, the stand-in captain of the Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav, had to change the tactics quickly.
Yadav brought in the Afghanistan spinner Allah Ghazanfar in the third over of the first innings, replacing the pacer Trent Boult, and it proved fruitful as the LSG opener Josh Inglis was caught in the hands of Suryakumar Yadav.
In the following over, instead of slowing down, Mitchell Marsh was hammered by Jasprit Bumrah for 21 runs in the 4th over. In the 5th over, Will Jacks leaked 21 runs. At the end of the power play, LSG got 90 runs for 1, which is their highest power play total in this season. Nicholas Pooran has been sent as the number three batter for LSG, and it proved instantly effective for them.

It is important to note that Hardik Pandya is not playing in tonight’s game. In place of Pandya, Yadav is the stand-in captain for the Mumbai Indians. The franchise informed that because of a back spasm, their regular skipper is not involved in the MI vs LSG IPL 2026 contest.
