A close contest between RCB and MI in New Raipur
It was a very close match at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Raipur in Atal Nagar-Nava Raipur. The target was not stiff, but the pitch was not ideal enough for the modern style of Twenty20 batting. In both of the innings, the batters had to grind hard for every run on the board.
Batting first, the Mumbai Indians scored 166 runs in the 20-over limit. A fifty-plus innings by Tilak Varma and a forty-plus runs innings by Naman Dhir helped MI to finalize the challenging total. For the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was brilliant with the ball in the first innings, taking 4 wickets in 4 overs.
Krunal Pandya was the hero for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Batters struggle continues in the second innings as well. Virat Kohli, captain Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal, Romario Shepherd, they all departed cheaply against the MI bowling front. Krunal Panyda was the unexpected element in the contest who made the difference in the match. He batted with a calf muscle issue and took Bengaluru close to the finish line.
Pandya’s 73-run knock was the decisive moment of the game. In the final ball of the penultimate over of the match, Rasikh Salam and Bhuvneshwar Kumar snatched a double to win the match for RCB by 2 wickets.
