Tim David proves the Mumbai Indians wrong with explosive performances for RCB
Notably, David was released by the five-time IPL champions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Since moving to RCB, he has become a key player for the franchise.
He played an important role in their successful campaign last season, scoring 187 runs in 12 matches at an excellent average of 62.33 and strike rate of 185.15, and has continued that form in IPL 2026 as well.
This season, David has been one of RCB’s most dangerous finishers. He has so far scored more than 230 runs in 11 matches at an explosive strike rate of nearly 197 and has also crossed the milestone of 1,000 IPL runs in his career.

Tim David could face an IPL ban after a viral middle-finger controversy
The viral middle-finger controversy has landed David in serious trouble, as he breached Article 2.6 of the IPL 2026 Code of Conduct, which bars the use of any “gesture that is obscene, offensive, or insulting” during a match.
This rule applies to everyone involved in the game, including players sitting in the dugout and team officials. If match officials believe the gesture was simply an emotional reaction or frustration and not aimed at anyone directly, it is usually treated as a Level 1 offense.
In that case, the player may get a warning or a fine of up to 50 percent of the match fee. However, the RCB star could face a heavy fine or a one or two-match ban if it were a Level 2 Offence, which refers to a gesture directed at an opposition player, umpire, team staff member, or even fans.
