The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday (May 12, 2026) took a swipe at Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that recurring NEET paper leaks reflect a lack of focus, with “his mind in Odisha while his body is in Delhi.”
“Mr. Pradhan remains constantly engaged in party activities while neglecting the responsibilities of his ministry. Since the Union Education Minister’s mind remains in Odisha while his body is in Delhi, NEET examination paper leaks are happening repeatedly,” said Chinmaya Sahoo, President of BJD’s youth wing, addressing a press conference.
Alleging that under the BJP Government, examination cancellations due to paper leaks have become a routine occurrence, the regional party said BJP came to power promising the dream of “New India,” while it was creating an identity of “Leak India.” The party has strongly criticised the Centre it was fourth cancellation within the last six years.
“If he [Mr. Pradhan] is unable to fulfil his ministerial responsibilities, he should immediately resign on moral grounds,” the party demanded.
The Central government played with the future of 22 lakh students as it is incapable of understanding the hard work and dedication of an examinees, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal Ipsita Sahu.
Taking pot shots at State’ Higher Education Minister Suraj Suryabanshi, she said, “just as the Union Education Minister is, similarly his ‘disciple’ in the Mr. Suryabanshi, is no different. Due to 23 paper leak incidents within the last 23 months in the State, the State Government is playing with the future of meritorious students.”
“While students stay awake through sleepless nights preparing for examinations and waiting for their results, BJP leaders who are playing with their fate are unable to understand their pain and suffering. Therefore, repeated incidents like paper leaks are being witnessed both in the State and across the country,” they pointed out.
