Pat Cummins and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have suffered a double blow in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026). After suffering a crushing defeat against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 12, SRH was punished by the IPL Governing Council.
On Wednesday, May 13, Pat Cummins was fined INR 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during the one-sided IPL 2026 encounter in Ahmedabad. The Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by the Australian skipper, breached Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

GT pacers dominate on bouncy Ahmedabad pitch as SRH collapse for 86
Defending the modest target of 168, Gujarat Titans delivered a stunning performance with the ball to completely shatter Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad. The easy chase turned into a nightmare for SRH as they were bowled out for just 86 runs and suffered a massive defeat of 82 runs.
The GT fast bowlers used the conditions brilliantly and kept attacking with hard-length deliveries throughout the SRH’s chase at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The ball was bouncing sharply, and the SRH batters had no answers. After the top order collapsed, SRH kept losing wickets, and they never managed to build any partnership during the chase.

Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder were the biggest stars with the ball for GT with the duo picking up three wickets each. Rabada and Holder’s fiery spells helped the Titans to register one of their most dominant wins of this season at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
With this big victory, GT jumped to the top of the IPL 2026 points table, and they have almost sealed a playoff spot with 16 points and two games still remaining. Interestingly, Gujarat had a poor start to the season and lost four of their first seven matches. But things completely changed after Jason Holder became a regular in the playing XI. Since then, GT has now won five matches in a row.
Pat Cummins shines with ball and bat but SRH collapse badly in Ahmedabad
On the other hand, Pat Cummins had his best, finishing with the stunning spell of 20/1 and also scoring 19 runs off 9 balls, but the rest of the unit failed, and SRH suffered an embarrassing loss. The SRH now slipped to third place on the table with 14 points, but they still have two more games to make it to the top four. However, they must win those games with a big margin to ensure their qualification.
After the match, Pat Cummins hailed the GT attack by saying, “I feel they bowled really well in that second innings. I was pretty happy with it when we walked off at the start, but yeah, pretty tricky wicket. I think they made the most of it, their bowlers; they bowled really well. So, yeah, maybe try and look at ways to get through that spell, but, you know, they deserve a bit of credit.”
