Tilak Varma absolutely demolishes Yuzvendra Chahal with monstrous 106 meter six; send ball out of ground

During the Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) match 58 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL), MI batter Tilak Varma smacked the longest 6 of the night at the HPCA Stadium. The Southpaw got it in the range, and it was also the first boundary struck against Yuzvendra Chahal, who was bowling well before the six was struck.

The incident occurred during 15.1 as Chahal came off to bowl the final over of his night. Tilak Varma got it in the arc and smashed it out of the park as it was a 106-meter six. With the six, Tilak got tied with the longest six in IPL 2026 this season, alongside Tim David and David Miller.

Tilak Varma fighting for Mumbai Indians

Tilak Varma has been there at the crease, and on a tricky wicket, he has been batting well. He needs to stay till the end of the innings if Mumbai needs to win today’s game and take their revenge on the Kings. From the 15th over, Tilak Varma and Sherfane Rutherford picked up 20 runs from Chahal while closing the runs and balls margin.

Tilak Varma is batting on the score of 56 runs off 27 deliveries; he has been sticking at one end and striking the ball hard, and looking to finish the game for the five-time champions. The Southpaw has had his struggles in the tournament and would like to make a redemption tonight. He has scored a hundred against the Gujarat Titans this season.

Jasprit Bumrah becomes 10th captain for Mumbai

Coming to the match, MI was without two of their star players, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, so Jasprit Bumrah took over the leadership role, becoming the 10th captain for the side. The latter won the toss and opted to field first, making two changes: Shardul Thakur and Sherfane Rutherford coming in.

Shreyas Iyer’s side, who came into the match with four consecutive losses, made three changes, Xavier Bartlett, Vishnu Vinod, and Azmatullah Omarzai getting their chances. After being invited to bat first, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh had a decent start with the former losing his wicket on 22 runs. The latter scored 57 runs, and PBKS had a small collapse in the middle overs.

Tilak is sticking for another chase

Mumbai Indians, coming out to chase, had a solid start, but on one end, as Ryan Rickelton played a fiery knock of 48 runs. But Rohit Sharma did not find the rhythm tonight, scoring 25 off 26 deliveries. Naman Dhir yet again had a disappointing night being out early.

Now Tilak Varma and Will Jacks are at the crease and looking to finish off the game for the franchise and get two points, which has not been often for the Mumbai side. The last over to be bowled as 15 runs are required. It will be very interesting as the match can go to the super over as well.
