Vaibhav Soortavanshi left his mark against the Delhi Capitals
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s form in IPL 2026 has been maintaining a streamline. Apart from a few games, the opener remains as one of the most impactful openers in the league, as well as in the format. Against the Delhi Capitals tonight, the southpaw was batting with his natural aggressive approach.
RR lost the wicket og Yashasvi Jaiswal early in the innings, inside the powerplay. But it did not lack in the run rate because of Vaibhav. Despite the loss of the wicket of Jaiswal, the opener did not show any intention to slow down. The way he was batting, another half-century was lost only a few yards away. But, he had to depart after scoring 46 runs from only 21 balls. The dominating 46-ball knock was decorated with five 4s and three 6s.
When Jaiswal departed, the Rajasthan Royals were on 19 in 1.5 overs, and when Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was gone, the score was 89 in 7.4 overs only. Uncapped Indian pacer of the Delhi Capitals, Madhav Tiwari, took the precise wicket. Experienced South African batter David Miller took a safe catch to get rid of the dangerous batter.
DC elected to bowl first
RR went to bat first as the home team, Delhi Capitals, elected to field first after winning the toss. However, the Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag was not unhappy after being asked to bat first.
“All good now. I had an hamstring niggle, so, all good. (Happy to bat first?) I was pretty unsure about it as well. Looks like a dry wicket, but then we’ve seen the past scores and the past results, chasing has been better, but then tends to slow down a bit as well. So I was a little confused, but happy to lose the toss. We’ve had some ups and downs in the last few games. I think we haven’t defended well. But today gives us another opportunity to do that and do it clinically,” Parag said after the toss.
