The IPL 2026 season continues to showcase why Shubman Gill is rapidly evolving into one of the finest leaders in world cricket. During the high-voltage clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Ahmedabad, Gill not only starred with the bat but also produced a moment of fielding brilliance that instantly became one of the standout highlights of the season.
With Gujarat already dominating the contest, the GT skipper delivered a sensational direct hit to pile more misery on CSK and completely shift the momentum further in his team’s favour.
Shubman Gill’s bullet throw leaves CSK stunned
The moment arrived during CSK’s difficult chase when Kartik Sharma attempted a risky quick single to keep the scoreboard moving. Gill, stationed inside the circle, moved swiftly toward the ball before collecting it cleanly in one motion. Without hesitation, the GT skipper unleashed a sharp throw directly at the stumps from a difficult angle. The ball crashed into the target perfectly, catching Kartik short of his crease and triggering huge celebrations among the Gujarat players.
The precision of the effort immediately went viral across social media, with fans praising Gill’s athleticism and awareness under pressure. The direct hit summed up the kind of all-round impact Gill has had this season. While his elegant batting has often grabbed headlines, the young captain continues to impress with his intensity in the field and calm tactical leadership.

Gujarat Titans dominate CSK to seal top-two finish
Earlier in the evening, GT produced a batting masterclass after being asked to bat first. Gill set the tone aggressively with a rapid 64, bringing up his half-century in just 23 deliveries. Alongside him, Sai Sudharsan continued his sensational consistency with a superb 84 off 53 balls. The destructive finishing touch came from Jos Buttler, who smashed an unbeaten 57 off only 27 balls to push GT to a commanding 229/4 in 20 overs.
Chasing a massive target, CSK never really recovered after losing wickets in clusters during the powerplay. Mohammed Siraj struck early, while Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan kept the pressure firmly on the visitors. Rashid eventually finished with outstanding figures of 3/18 as Chennai were bowled out for 140 in the 14th over. This victory confirmed GT’s place in the top two of the IPL 2026 standings, while CSK saw their slim playoff hopes officially come to an end.
