The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 has now been spotted in the GSM Association’s IMEI database. This confirms its name and its model number, that is SM-S952 with a letter affixed to that, which signifies which market(s) it’s intended for. The specific model in the IMEI database is the SM-S952U, as you can see in the screenshot below. This one is going to US carriers.
Of course, having this confirmation that the Galaxy S27 is actually in development, and will be sold in the US through the big three carriers, is anything but surprising. And yet, it’s nice to have, as the IMEI database listing is usually the first semi-official trace of an upcoming device we can find on the internet. This will then be followed by certifications across the world in the coming months.
In the meantime, rumors have told us that the Galaxy S27’s screen may be made by China’s BOE, and not Samsung Display. The phone is expected to be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2700 SoC, at least in some markets (though the US might not be one of them). The Galaxy S27 family is said to be growing by adding a fourth member, and should become official in January.
