The Keralam government on Friday appointed actor and festival curator Raveendran as the chairperson of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. Actor Priyanka Nair has been appointed as the vice-chairperson.
Actor Salim Hassan and filmmaker Jofin T. Chacko have been appointed as executive committee members. The appointments at the top of the academy and the complete reconstitution of the executive committee and general council comes after a delay of over four months since the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) took charge.
The general council members are Deepu Karunakaran, Vaikom Vijayalekshmi, M.V. Gireesh Kumar, Salim Hassan, B. Rakesh, Sajeevan Anthikkad, Zakariya, R.S. Panicker, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vazhoor Jose, A.Kabeer, Sabu Shankar, Sherga Sandeep and Abdul Hanan.
Former chairperson Resul Pookutty and vice-chairperson Kukku Parameswaran had tendered their resignation in May, some weeks after the UDF government took charge.
