Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has once again taken to Instagram to put out a savage remark against another IPL team.
GT defeated both Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore in successive matches on April 26 and April 30. The matches were in Chennai and Ahmedabad, respectively.
Gill contributed with the bat in both matches. The successive wins have pushed the Gujarat Titans to No. 5 on the points table.
“Nandri Chennai” – Shubman Gill on Instagram
After GT defeated CSK in Chennai, Gill took to Instagram and posted a photo of himself holding a yellow whistle. Gill captioned the photo ‘Nandri Chennai’ (Thank you Chennai).
Yellow is CSK’s primary colour, and ‘whistle podu’ (blow a whistle) is CSK’s tagline. In that match, CSK has suffered a batting collapse as GT got their bowling right. Ruturaj Gaikwad batted through the innings to make a commendable unbeaten 74 to give CSK’s bowlers something to bowl at.
Gill put up 58 with Sai Sudharsan, who went on to score 87 himself to drive GT to a commanding win.
“Play Hold” – Shubman Gill takes a second shot
During the match against RCB, all-rounder Jason Holder proved to be the difference as he delivered a Player of the Match performance.
After RCB got off to a brilliant start, Holder’s 2 wickets and 3 catches ensured a middle-order collapse that RCB never actually recovered from.
Arshad Khan’s 3 wickets, combined with Rashid Khan’s 2, meant that RCB could only muster 155.
GT were never in any real danger of losing the match chasing such a low target. Shubman Gill started proceedings with a 24-run over against Josh Hazlewood and ultimately top-scored with 43 runs in 18 balls.
Jos Buttler made 39 in 19, and GT’s infamous middle order closed out the low-scoring chase.
Jason Holder added 12 runs to his fielding brilliance to be named Player of the Match.
After the match, Gill posted a photo of himself with Holder with the caption “Play Hold @jaseholder98 Bold performance by the team tonight.”
Gill’s caption Play Hold was an obvious pun on Jason Holder’s name and ‘Play Bold’ being RCB’s tagline.

Shubman Gill’s performance in IPL 2026
With 373 runs in 8 matches, Gill is currently the fifth-highest run-getter of IPL 2026, and the highest for his team. Gill is also averaging 47 at a strike rate of 155.
He has also scored 3 fifties, with a high score of 86 against
GT’s next match
Shubman Gill and his troops will stay in Ahmedabad for their next match and will host the Punjab Kings there on May 3.
The two teams had opened their season against each other with PBKS prevailing. Gujarat Titans will arguably fancy their chances after this two-match winning run.
PBKS started the season by remaining unbeaten for 7 matches in a row, but that streak was snapped in their last game. They will want to get a season double over the Titans.
