Former Indian Cricketer Piyush Chawla shared a request to fast-track 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi into the Indian team. Sooryavanshi, who played a match-winning knock in yesterday’s game between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, scoring this season’s first IPL fifty in just 15 balls, broke his own record of 17 balls.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been the talk of the town since his IPL debut, and he also impressed everyone in his first match by scoring a 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans. Not only that, he has performed throughout the year with the India under-19 as well as in the first-class tournament, making him one of the best young players.
Piyush Chawla said, “I would love to see him getting fast-track” on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
After his impressive performance in the opening match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the talk of getting him fast-tracked has increased among veteran Indian cricketers.

During a recent discussion on ESPNcricinfo, Chawla backed an early international debut for the 15-year-old batter.
He said, “That’s the beauty of the IPL. At the age of 15, he is facing world-class bowlers. When he goes to the international level, he won’t be a stranger. It’s not that he has not faced 140kph-plus bowler. He has already smashed them. If he plays like that, would love to see him getting fast-tracked. Over the last, in U19, domestic, India A, whatever has played, he has scored some big hundreds. That’s really good.”

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu also believes that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has the potential to play for India at a very young age, and fast-tracking him now can help him grow further in his career. However, he also mentioned that it is not going to be easy, as there are a few more young players like him who are in line. Selecting one of them, considering India’s bright future, is going to be extremely difficult for the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the team management.
“I think definitely in T20 format, if he has a very good IPL and if he shows that he can keep himself extremely calm under pressure. But, our Indian team is a world champion team, so to replace somebody is that side is not easy. There are a few players ahead of him at the moment. You tend to pick and build your team for the next ICC competitions.”
In yesterday’s low-scoring game between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed 52 runs in just 17 balls, hitting five sixes and four boundaries at a strike rate of over 300. He, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, built an opening partnership of 75 runs, helping the team chase down the target successfully with eight overs to spare.
Ambati Rayudu praises RR’s management on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Concluding the video, the former CSK batter said that all credit for Vaibhav’s performance goes to the Rajasthan Royals management, who have been managing him well over the years. Under coaches like Rahul Dravid and Kumar Sangakkara, Vaibhav is learning a lot year by year, which is now visible in his performances. Rayudu also praised the Rajasthan Royals team management for giving him the freedom to bat the way he likes and express himself on the ground.
“He looks a part above a lot of youngsters in the country. He’s a talent that will definitely do wonders for Indian cricket. The kind of freedom with which he has been batting it’s a great testament to the fact that their management has been doing a wonderful job in not complicating things for him.”
Till now, in 8 innings, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has scored 304 runs for Rajasthan Royals at an average of 38 and a strike rate of 218, including one century and two half-centuries.
