Sydney Sixers have strengthened their batting lineup with the signing of England international Alice Capsey for the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2026-27 season. The 22-year-old has agreed to a one-year deal with the three-time WBBL champions as she prepares to return to Australia.
Capsey has already established herself as one of the most exciting young players in world cricket. Since making her international debut in 2022, she has represented England 95 times across formats and was part of the squad that reached the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year.
Alice Capsey adds experience to Sydney Sixers batting lineup
Despite being only 22, Capsey has considerable experience in the WBBL, having made 46 appearances for Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades. Her familiarity with Australian conditions will be valuable as she joins the Sixers ahead of their latest campaign. The Surrey product has also played franchise cricket across several major competitions.
She has represented Birmingham Phoenix, Delhi Capitals and MI London, previously known as Oval Invincibles, giving her plenty of experience in different T20 environments. Capsey has scored 1,053 runs in T20Is for England, including six half-centuries. Her attacking approach and ability to contribute in the middle order will provide the Sixers with another quality option with the bat.
Capsey set to play key role after Alyssa Healy’s retirement
Capsey’s arrival comes after the retirement of Alyssa Healy last summer, giving Sydney Sixers an important addition as they look to reshape their batting order. She will join a strong squad that also includes fellow England international Sophia Dunkley. The 22-year-old will work under new WBBL head coach Peter Clarke as the Sixers prepare for WBBL|12. Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes said Capsey’s experience and ability made her an ideal addition to the squad.
“Alice is one of the most exciting young players in world cricket and we’re thrilled to welcome her to the Sydney Sixers. Despite still being only 22, she has already achieved a great deal in international cricket and established herself as a player capable of defining matches.” Haynes said.

England international excited to return to Australia
Capsey is also looking forward to joining one of the most successful clubs in the WBBL after enjoying her previous experiences in Australia. The move gives Capsey another opportunity to build on her experience in Australian cricket while giving the Sixers an established international batter ahead of the 2026-27 WBBL season.
