The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) have begun their preparations for the upcoming season, with the legendary spinner Anil Kumble no longer set to join the franchise.
The Capitals had shown strong interest in bringing Kumble on board, but the talks did not move forward. Instead, former India and DC spinner Amit Mishra is now set to become part of the setup. Earlier, S Badrinath took a dig at Gautam Gambhir over all-rounder obsession.
Big update on Rishabh Pant as Delhi Capitals begin four-day camp
As reported by a Revsportz journalist, Rohit Juglan, the Delhi Capitals (DC) have already started a four-day camp from September 11. The camp is mainly focused on trials, giving the franchise a chance to assess players ahead of the next phase of preparations.
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who joined DC after the IPL 2026 after leaving the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), is also expected to attend the camp. However, Pant will be part of the DC camp for only a day or two.
Delhi Capitals’ Anil Kumble talks fail, Amit Mishra steps in
Delhi Capitals were keen to have the former PBKS head coach Anil Kumble involved with the team, given his experience, but the discussions failed to reach a final agreement. With that move not happening, the franchise has turned to Amit Mishra.
The experienced leg-spinner, who has a long connection with Delhi cricket, will now be part of the team’s setup as preparations get underway.

Hemang Badani could leave DC for CSK
The Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) coaching hunt could lead to a major change in DC involving Hemang Badani. CSK is looking for a new head coach after Stephen Fleming ended his long association with the franchise following three straight seasons without a playoff appearance.
Hemang Badani is now among the leading names being considered for the job. The former India and Tamil Nadu cricketer fits the kind of profile CSK is looking for. MS Dhoni is reportedly keen on an Indian-led support staff with strong knowledge of Indian and domestic cricket.
Badani also knows Chennai and Tamil Nadu cricket well. His understanding of local conditions could be important for CSK, especially after the team struggled to make Chepauk a strong home venue in the last two seasons. If Badani gets the CSK job, his association with Delhi Capitals would end.
Axar Patel linked with CSK trade
DC’s current captain Axar Patel is also reportedly being discussed in a possible trade between the two franchises. CSK are looking for an Indian spin-bowling all-rounder after trading Ravindra Jadeja to the Rajasthan Royals. Axar could be an ideal fit because of his ability with both bat and ball.
It is being said that Delhi Capitals could ask for Urvil Patel and Rahul Chahar in a possible multi-player deal. With Rishabh Pant expected to return to the DC captaincy, the franchise could also look at reshaping its squad. However, neither the Badani move nor the Axar trade is final as of now.
