The iPhone 18 Pro is still more than half a year away. However, we have some interesting new color rumors for the upcoming new iPhone model, and Apple may finally be making something that users have wanted for a long time – a red iPhone ‘Pro’. The iPhone Fold, on the other hand, may not have any flashy color choices.
iPhone 18 Pro in red
According to Mark Gurman of BloombergApple is now considering a new ‘deep red’ color option for the iPhone 18 Pro. With the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple switched to a single aluminum body, giving the company much more flexibility on what colors it can use on the iPhone ‘Pro’.
Gurman notes that the current Cosmic Orange color is extremely popular, especially in China — so even though red and orange are “a little too close on the color wheel,” Apple may end up keeping both colors:
Given the success of orange, I wouldn’t be surprised if the company keeps that option and just adds red as an additional choice. But red and orange might be a little too close on the color wheel to have both. We’ll see how it works out exactly, but I can at least tell you that, as of now, red is the new primary color in testing for the upcoming iPhone Pro.
If you’re someone who’s both always wanted a red iPhone Pro and lamented the fact that Apple stopped making red iPhones with iPhone 14 in 2022 – then you should be very excited. Gurman also comments on gossip in other colors purple and brown, but says they are probably just ‘variants of the same red idea’.
The new colors of the iPhone Fold
Gurman also comments on the color options The next iPhone Fold. He reports that Apple will ‘stay away’ from fun colors:
This means going back to the options Apple used during the early days of the iPhone: some kind of dark gray or black and some variation of a white or light silver. We’re on track to see how this all comes together in September.
In all likelihood, this is because this is Apple’s first time producing such a product, and getting fewer colors simplifies the manufacturing process. We saw a similar thing play out with the iPhone X, when it only came in two colors versus six on the iPhone 7.
