PATNA: The main accused in the alleged molestation of a minor student in Jamui was shot and injured in a police encounter while he was being taken to the scene of the incident, police said on Tuesday.The accused, identified as Nandan Yadav, had been arrested in connection with the case. According to police, Yadav was hiding near Madwa Hill, where the two students were stopped on September 19.Police surrounded him and tried to apprehend him, but he allegedly attempted to flee. An encounter followed, during which police shot him in the left leg.Yadav was subsequently admitted to Jamui Sadar Hospital for treatment.ADG (Law and Order) K Suhita Anupam said Nandan Yadav had tried to escape while police were attempting to apprehend him, following which an encounter took place and he was shot in the leg.According to police, Yadav was identified as the young man wearing a red scarf in the viral video. So far, six people have been arrested in connection with the case.Three of the accused are aged between 35 and 40, while the other three are minors.Earlier, police had arrested Ramashish Chaudhary for allegedly making the video of the incident viral on social media. Police identified and arrested Chaudhary after the video surfaced online.The incident occurred around 7pm on September 19. Both victims are Class 10 students.After attending tuition on Saturday, the students went to Madwa Hill in Jamui. While they were returning, some young men allegedly stopped them and subjected them to harassment and assault.The two students were allegedly subjected to the harassment for around an hour and made repeated attempts to escape.During the incident, Nandan Yadav allegedly chased one of the students and grabbed her from behind.The viral video showed one of the accused forcibly assaulting the student. He allegedly grabbed her from behind and later lifted her onto his lap.The girl’s friend immediately intervened and tried to free her, leading to a scuffle between the students and the accused.The student eventually managed to free her friend. However, the accused allegedly continued to harass them and attempted to prevent the two girls from leaving, while they continued trying to escape.Police said all the accused identified so far had been arrested and further investigation into the case was underway.
