Cameron Green reveals ‘milestone obsession’ during Finn Allen’s IPL 2026 ton

Finn Allen completely stole the spotlight during Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) dominant eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2026 with a breathtaking century, but behind the explosive innings was a smart and funny effort from Cameron Green that made it even more special.

Allen was smashing the Delhi Capitals bowlers all around the Arun Jaitley Stadium, but Green quietly made sure nothing came in the way of the New Zealand batter’s maiden IPL century.

Cameron Green’s masterplan helps Finn Allen smash maiden IPL century

Kolkata Knight Riders looked unstoppable during the successful chase of 143 runs against Delhi Capitals, as Allen played one of the most destructive knocks of the season.

The aggressive opener remained unbeaten on 100 off just 47 balls and helped KKR crush DC by eight wickets with 34 balls remaining. The victory was KKR’s fourth straight win, keeping their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2026.

Even though Allen grabbed all the attention, Cameron Green’s role during the chase won applause, and the Australian all-rounder was delighted with his efforts to help his KKR partner reach the milestone. Notably, Green (33 runs off 27 balls) and Allen added a massive 116 runs together.

Cameron Green left amazed watching Finn Allen’s destruction from the non-striker’s end during the DC vs KKR clash

Green said that he really enjoyed watching the carnage unfold from the non-strikers’ end and called it one of those rare moments players only get to experience a few times in their careers.

Cameron Green said at the post-match presentation about Allen’s century: “So special. I think you only get the chance to be at the other end a handful of times in your career, so that’s one of them.”

On his conversation with the New Zealander during their match-winning stand, the Australian all-rounder Cameron Green added, “Nothing really. I think, Finn, all he said was, ‘See you next time. ‘ So, yeah, that’s basically what I tried to do. I was just at the other end playing second fiddle.”

‘Most hated man in Kolkata’: Green’s funny fear during Allen’s ton

Green revealed that he had already started calculating the runs needed when KKR were close to victory. Since Allen was close to a special milestone, Green did not want to spoil the moment by taking too much stake or finishing the match himself. Even the Australian star joked that if he had denied Allen his century, KKR fans would never have forgiven him.

He signed off by saying, “I think I did the math when we had 29 to get. So yeah, I knew I’d be the most hated man in Kolkata if I did anything else apart from that. No, not us (on calculations). I was; I did the math. But no, Finn’s very good at math as well, so I’ll give him credit for that. So, probably, he was probably doing the same. Winning, that’s been the most satisfying.”

Despite being signed for a record ₹25.20 crore by KKR, Green has so far had an ordinary season, scoring 232 runs at an average of 33 and a strike rate of nearly 147 in 10 matches. He also scalped four wickets. KKR will next face the RCB in the ongoing 2026 season in Raipur on May 13.
