Chennai Super Kings, five titles strong, might bring in Karnataka’s Macneil Hadle Noronha after Ramakrishna Ghosh got hurt. A broken bone in his right foot has ruled out Ghosh for what remains of IPL 2026. That moment came mid-game at home versus Mumbai Indians on May 2 – yes, that was even his first outing in the league. Behind the move? Paperwork is now with the BCCI; approval must land before anything turns official. As per Cricbuzz, it’s CSK chief Kasi Viswanathan who gave that detail straight.
Twenty-four-year-old Noronha played his best cricket yet with the Mangaluru Dragons during their championship run in the 2025 Maharaja Trophy. Hitting hard right from the start, he scored 253 runs across 13 matches, moving fast with a strike rate just under 149. His bat found the boundary often – nineteen times clearing the rope in total. While known for batting fire, he still made time to send down off-spin, picking up ten wickets when called upon. Those deliveries stayed tight, leaking only 7.44 runs per over on average. Success came through balance, not flash, showing up where needed most. Out of two matches, one ended at 25 – his top score coming during the showdown with Hubli Tigers. Called into the Karnataka lineup for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he played across three fixtures
A single game was all it took for Ghosh to grab attention, thanks to a quick dive that ended with Will Jacks caught out. Right after flinging himself forward during a delivery to Naman Dhir, though, his body appeared to tighten up – possibly setting off the chain of events behind his injury.
“Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk. He will take no further part in IPL 2026. Get well soon, Rambo,” CSK said in a statement.
Out of nowhere, the head coach brought up the issue once the game ended. A tough moment, yet he couldn’t help but notice how fast the kid had grown into his role.
Lately, his form’s taken a clear step up. Training hard during our academy workouts seems to be paying off. Two different fields are part of our routine, yet he stands out each time. Near the finish line, an injury slowed him down – bad timing. Batting’s another thing he does – really well, actually – and that’s where he’s grown a lot. Calling him a true all-rounder makes sense now,” Fleming remarked.
Out on the sidelines, Ghosh leaves another gap in a year that keeps falling apart for the five-time title holders. With Khaleel Ahmed gone too – India’s sharp left-arm pacer – the team stumbles through wave after wave of setbacks. Ayush Mhatre, once seen as a rising spark, also vanished from the lineup just when momentum might’ve built.
Starting slow wasn’t their choice – Nathan Ellis was hurt even before the games started. Then came Spencer Johnson, meant to step in, but he too stayed on the sidelines until just now. Things got messier when MS Dhoni disappeared from the field, held back by a calf problem that showed up early. The team felt thinner without him, right from the opening match.
When more players get hurt, CSK’s backup options face tougher tests during a demanding IPL 2026 run missing another main contributor. Though setbacks pile up, their bench strength must hold through yet another absence mid-season strain.
