Delhi Capitals have been strongly reprimanded by a former Indian cricketer for experimenting throughout the competition and not settling their house in order. Axar Patel, the DC skipper, has also been tagged as an uninspiring skipper.
The Delhi Capitals are on the verge of being knocked out of the competition in this edition of the tournament. The Capitals are one of the three franchises to have never won the IPL in its long history of 19 seasons.
However, since their last final appearance in 2020 under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, Delhi have struggled with their leadership choices. After Rishabh Pant’s departure, Indian T20I vice-captain Axar Patel was appointed as their skipper, but he too has failed to deliver as a successful captain.
Delhi Capitals face a major roadblock on their route to the IPL playoffs
The Delhi Capitals have been part of the IPL ever since the inauguration of the tournament. However, they have never won the title, and the saga continues in this season as well. Delhi Capitals are on the verge of elimination after their massive loss to KKR.
After they missed out on a playoff spot despite a successful campaign last season, the Capitals, after a promising start, failed to hold on to their nerve this season, which is almost at its end. They have only managed to win four out of their eleven matches this season and are placed eighth in the points table.
With the playoffs slipping out of reach, several familiar issues have been exposed in the team’s weaknesses. Questions have been raised over DC’s direction and decision-making ability. The Capitals have already started to reassess their plans as well as the roles of respective cricketers.
“Axar Patel as a captain doesn’t inspire,” Ex-cricketer blasts DC skipper with explosive remarks.
Axar Patel as a captain doesn’t inspire too much confidence. His tactics, on most of the occasions have often been questionable and inexplicable. High time the Delhi capitals set their house in order, with a leader for the future #IPL2026

Axar Patel’s captaincy is once again under the scanner after consecutive failures for the Delhi Capitals. He has not been able to guide them to the playoffs on two occasions, and this time, they have reached nowhere near a promising campaign.
DC are facing concerns over the lack of staunch decision-makers in the IPL, and the skipper himself has lacked consistency with the bat. Former Indian cricketer Dodda Ganesh claimed that Axar Patel’s captaincy has been uninspiring and asked the Delhi management to back a long-term leadership vision for the upcoming seasons.
“Axar Patel as a captain doesn’t inspire too much confidence. His tactics, on most of the occasions, have often been questionable and inexplicable. High time the Delhi Capitals set their house in order, with a leader for the future #IPL2026,” Dodda Ganesh wrote on X.
Dodda Ganesh hands Delhi Capitals a sarcastic “goodbye” with a cryptic social media post.
The Delhi Capitals have been fickle with their team balance. Despite making a good start to the season and winning matches for the Capitals, David Miller was dropped towards the back end of the campaign.
The likes of Abhishek Porel, one of Delhi’s major contributors with the bat over the past few seasons, and former DC star Prithvi Shaw, who returned after a brief absence from the IPL, were not handed adequate chances to create an impact.
Dodda Ganesh attacked the DC management and the skipper Axar Patel over the inconsistent choices and lack of clarity with their playing XI. He said:
“Goodbye, Delhi Capitals. Keep experimenting in the next three games, too. It might be helpful for the next season #IPL2026.”
Good bye, Delhi capitals. Keep experimenting in the next three games too. It might be helpful for the next season #IPL2026
