The quarterfinals of the 135th Durand Cup tournament will be played on August 16 and 17, with an intriguing mix of contenders in the knockout stage.
Sporting Club Delhi will face Manipur’s FC Raengdai in QF1 at Birsa Munda Stadium, Ranchi, at 4 p.m. on August 16.
Later that evening, East Bengal will take on Indian Army FT at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata, at 7 p.m. (QF2).
On August 17, Mohun Bagan Super Giant meets Jamshedpur FC in QF3 at Salt Lake Stadium at 4 p.m.
Defending champion NorthEast United FC faces Shillong Lajong FC in QF4 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Shillong, at 7 p.m.
In a curious tradition followed by the organisers over the last few years, the quarterfinal pairings are decided only after the completion of the group stage, although the dates and venues are fixed before the tournament begins.
The first semifinal, on August 19, will feature the QF1 winner against the QF2 winner at Salt Lake Stadium. The QF3 victor will meet the QF4 winner on August 20 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Shillong.
The final will be played in Kolkata on August 23.
