Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) produced one of the most explosive matches of IPL 2026 as SRH chased down a massive 229-run target with five wickets in hand at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Despite a sensational century from young star Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Rajasthan failed to defend their total as Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma powered Hyderabad to a stunning victory in just 18.3 overs.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lights up Jaipur with a breathtaking century
After being asked to bat first, Rajasthan Royals got off to a mixed start as Yashasvi Jaiswal departed early for just 10 runs off 8 balls. However, what followed was a breathtaking display of power-hitting from Suryavanshi, who completely changed the momentum of the innings.
The youngster smashed a sensational 103 off just 37 deliveries, hammering 5 fours and an unbelievable 12 sixes. His fearless strokeplay left the Sunrisers bowlers searching for answers and gave Rajasthan complete control of the innings.
Dhruv Jurel played the perfect supporting role with a well-compiled 51 off 35 balls, including 8 boundaries and a six. The duo built a strong platform before Donovan Ferreira added late fireworks with a quickfire 33 off just 16 balls, featuring 3 fours and 3 sixes. Rajasthan eventually posted a massive 228/6 in their 20 overs, a total that looked more than competitive on the Jaipur surface.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Eshan Malinga was the most effective bowler with 2 wickets for 38 runs, while Pat Cummins impressed with his control, conceding just 27 runs in his four overs and picking up one wicket.
Sunrisers Hyderabad respond with fearless intent
In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad came out with clear attacking intent. Although Travis Head fell early for just 6, Abhishek ensured there was no slowdown. He smashed 57 off 29 balls, striking 11 fours and a six, putting immediate pressure on the Royals bowlers. Kishan then took over the chase with a stunning innings of 74 off just 31 balls. His innings was packed with elegant strokeplay and brute power as he struck 11 fours and 3 sixes. His partnership with Abhishek completely shifted the game in Hyderabad’s favour.
Even after both set batters were dismissed, Heinrich Klaasen kept things under control with 29 off 24, while Nitish Kumar Reddy played the finisher’s role brilliantly, smashing 36 off 18 balls with 3 sixes. Salil Arora then added the final touches with an unbeaten 8 off 3 deliveries as SRH crossed the line at 229/5 in 18.3 overs.
Jofra Archer was the standout performer with the ball for Rajasthan, claiming 2 wickets for 34 runs and briefly giving his side hope. Brijesh Sharma also picked up two wickets, but the rest of the bowling attack struggled badly under pressure.
Nandre Burger, Tushar Deshpande, and Ravindra Jadeja were unable to contain the flow of runs as Hyderabad’s aggressive batting lineup kept attacking from start to finish. In the end, it was a painful defeat for Rajasthan Royals, especially after Sooryavanshi’s extraordinary century.

Here’s how fans reacted:
Last few overs while bowling won SRH the game. No fuss in chasing what so ever. Ishan Kishan, Abhisehk Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy made the 229 chase look easier than it was.

Harbhajan Singh can’t stop praising Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s talent.
If Sooryavanshi can hit bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins for sixes, shouldn’t he be selected for India’s white-ball team? pic.twitter.com/fq8YC0kgVd

Is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi even human? His 100 has come in 36 balls, which funnily is a ball slower than the 100 he got last year!
For a moment I thought he will go for a 200 but…#RRvsSRH #IPL2026 pic.twitter.com/2R0mpriMEn— Vikrant Gupta (@vikrantgupta73) April 25, 2026

What a day to take a break from the IPL! 🫣🫣. Surely this has to be the highest scoring day in the history of the IPL.
