Fans goes beserk as Ryan Rickelton scores fastest IPL century for MI

Ryan Rickelton reached his maiden IPL hundred, and it was a memorable one as it came just at the time when it was much needed for the Mumbai Indians. He not only got to a hundred but also broke Tilak Varma’s record of the fastest IPL century for the Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians had to win this game as they returned to their home ground at the Wankhede Stadium, a venue where they have done the majority of their run-scoring. However, in the last game at this venue, the batters collapsed in a chase against the Chennai Super Kings, and hence, the team needed its batters to rediscover their form.

Ryan Rickelton scores fastest IPL century for the Mumbai Indians

Ryan Rickelton returned to the Mumbai Indians’ playing XI after Quinton de Kock was sidelined from the competition following a wrist injury. Returning against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on a batting turf in Mumbai, Rickelton looked like a man on a mission.

He started off his carnage with Praful Hinge’s second over at the start of the powerplay, and, favoured by a promising start from the other end by Will Jacks, Rickelton batted with ease and was off to a flyer. He took it deep from there and scored the fastest century for the Mumbai Indians in the history of the season.

Rickelton and Hardik Pandya’s handy partnership helped MI at the death

Rickelton was batting at his very best when Naman Dhir’s wicket fell, and Hardik Pandya, the skipper, arrived at the crease once again ahead of Tilak Varma, who has been in better form than the skipper.

However, Rickelton summoned some energy and went on to his maiden hundred alongside Hardik Pandya, who, for the first time this season, looked to be at his very best, striking the ball with some authority.

Pandya scored a 14-ball 31 before he was dismissed off young Sakib Hussain as he attempted to launch him over the long-off boundary, but was caught at the fence by Heinrich Klaasen. Mumbai Indians have finished with the score of 243/5 after the 20 overs.
