Gujarat Titans captain to miss upcoming SRH clash in IPL 2026?

Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans skipper, claimed that he struggled slightly with an ankle injury during his stupendous knock against the Rajasthan Royals at their home ground in Jaipur.

The Gujarat Titans are one of the most consistent teams in the history of the competition. Having made their debut back in 2022, they won their inaugural season under Hardik Pandya‘s captaincy and then finished as the runners-up in 2023.

After Hardik Pandya left the team ahead of the 2024 edition, Shubman Gill was appointed as the skipper of the side. Having led them thrice, including this edition of the IPL, he led them to the playoffs last season and looks to win his first title as a skipper in the IPL.

Shubman Gill updates on freak injury against the Rajasthan Royals

Shubman has already missed one of the Gujarat Titans’ matches this season, which featured Rashid Khan as the captain of the side. However, all are well aware of Gill’s freak injury concerns, which have ruled him out on several crucial instances.

In their recent game against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Shubman Gill played a stupendous knock where he amassed 84 runs off just 44 deliveries while striking at a whopping 190.91.

However, during the match, he was spotted limping across the pitch, as Shubman Gill possibly injured his ankle. In the post-match interview, he revealed that he had accidentally twisted his ankle.

“I think I just, while taking the run, twisted my ankle a little bit. It was quite painful. But I think after half an hour or so, it settled down a bit,” said Shubman Gill.

Gill-Sudharsan enters the top 5 list in the race for the Orange Cap

Shubman Gill is currently far away from the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard; however, having played ten matches in the season, he has entered the top five list of cricketers with the most runs this season.

Averaging 46.20 in this edition, Gill has amassed 462 runs across 10 innings with four half-centuries this season. In some matches, he has made an impact with a stunning start despite being dismissed short of a milestone like a half-century or a century.

Sai Sudharsan, on the other hand, has also been consistent over the last five games, where he has scored a century and three half-centuries. Having scored 440 runs this season, the Orange Cap winner from the last season is back in the hunt for the top position.

Gujarat Titans seal second spot in IPL 2026 points table

With their seventh win of the season, the Gujarat Titans have now taken the second spot in the points table, equalling their points tally with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have also secured 14 points this season.

Gujarat registered a massive 77-run victory against the Rajasthan Royals, which helped them achieve a massive hike in the run rate, which was hampered post that humiliating victory against the Mumbai Indians.

Gujarat can well and truly secure the top spot next, with their next match scheduled to be played against the current table-toppers, Sunrisers Hyderabad. The GT vs SRH match will be a home match for the Titans, who have now mastered the art of winning at home.
