In match no.41, between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. During the toss, MI captain Hardik Pandya provided a massive update on the team’s former captain Rohit Sharma, who is suffering from a hamstring injury that he sustained in the game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Hardik Pandya, during the toss, said that Rohit Sharma will need a couple more games to regain his full fitness. Previously, it was mentioned in yesterday’s press conference that a decision on Rohit Sharma will be taken during the toss, and the updated decision came from the franchise’s skipper.
Rohit’s gonna take a couple of more games- Hardik Pandya on Rohit Sharma’s injury
Hardik said, “Rohit’s is gonna take a couple of more games. He’s been trying, it’s not up to exactly where he would want, so not available for the team. Absolutely (on his form). We just want to kind of come out and play the best cricket I know as well. That will definitely help the group and the team.”
Quinton de Kock replaced him in the side, and Rohit Sharma has missed out on the last three matches for the Mumbai side. However, today the former is also missing out due to a wrist injury, as Ryan Rickelton replaces him in the squad tonight.
Rohit Sharma has scored 137 runs from four innings in the IPL 2026. He scored fifty in the very first game of the IPL and looked in tremendous form, but the injury was a setback to his form. Though he has hit the nets and is batting well, he has not been 100% ready.
It is pretty high scoring normally- Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins’s SRH also made two changes in the side. During the toss he said, “It looks like there might be a little bit of tackiness in the wicket, so happy (to bowl first). I think you’ve just got to reset your expectations every game.”
“It is pretty high scoring normally, so just try and execute skills, don’t overthink it. You know, this pitch might ask of something different of you this game, and just go with a clear mind. Harsh Dubey comes in for Shivang Kumar. Hopefully they trust what I’m saying because I’m out there bowling alongside, so you know, I obviously pick up information when I’m bowling on the pitch.”
